Why you should install a geothermal system. Now.

Here’s why you should install geothermal heat NOW.

Geothermal heating and cooling is pretty amazing. It’s seriously awesome. You use four components to heat your home: 1. The sun. That’s free. 2. Dirt. That’s free too. 3. Geothermal heat loops and exchanger. Those you’ll have to pay for. Once. 4. Your existing delivery system. Forced air, radiator, radiant flooring, whatever you already use. Just repurposed.

Pretty easy, right? Two free things, one thing you already have, and one thing you have to purchase and install. So let’s talk about that thing you have to purchase and install.

The heat loops go underground. The sun heats the earth all year long, and the dirt stores that heat. The underground heat loops are filled with a water solution that absorbs heat. Heat always transfers from higher to lower temperatures, right? So the water in the loops absorbs the heat from the ground and sends it to the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger uses electricity (at an efficiency rate of about 400%. One unit of electricity sends 4-5 units of heat into your house, to put it in general terms) to heat the water to comfortable room temperature. It’s hooked right into your existing heat delivery system, so that heat is delivered right into your home, making it warm and cozy and comfortable and efficient. And yes, it works with your water tank too to deliver hot water. In the summer, the process reverses itself (heat always goes from warmer to cooler, remember) and your house stays cool and comfortable and efficient.

So that’s how geothermal heat works. Pretty neat. So why should you install it when you might already have a system that gets the job done?

Fossil fuels are crazy expensive. And the prices are constantly rising. Whether you use natural gas, propane, or coal to heat your house, any fossil fuel use is both expensive and environmentally damaging. We all know the risks of fossil fuels and how terrible and irresponsible they are. But we use them anyway, because those systems are already installed and no one has given you a really good way to avoid them.

Well, your excuses are moot, because geothermal is a great way to avoid them and your existing system works with them, you are simply replacing the source furnace with the geothermal loops and heat exchanger.

Geothermal heating is extremely cost effective. You virtually eliminate your monthly gas bill because it doesn’t use gas. The electricity it does use comes with an efficiency rate that absolutely cannot be replicated with any fossil fuel.

Furnaces break. They start at a peak efficiency rating of about 90%. Then they go downhill. Furnaces are depreciating assets that don’t even start at 100%. Geothermal warranties last a lifetime. Your heating loops can last generations. The heat exchangers can last more than fifty years. Will your furnace last that long?

Geothermal is obviously the best choice for you, your family and your home (or business!). But why now?

It’s Buffalo and winter is coming. Winter is always coming. Even when winter is coming to an end, in Buffalo we all know it’s just looming around the corner. So if you wait until the weather feels like winter is almost here, it’s too late. You’ll be covered in two feet of snow before you can pick up the phone to call for furnace repair. Buffalo in the winter with an inefficient furnace… does that really sound like a risk you want to take?

If you install your geothermal system now, by the time winter comes you’ll be laughing each month when your friends are paying hundreds of dollars for inefficient heat and your bills are low and manageable and your home is just as warm.

So just call us. In a climate like this, there is no reason to settle for inefficient, expensive heating.
